Loyalty is a major theme in the novel, and is manifested through three of the main characters:
1) Hassan, the Hazara servant who is loyal to Amir and Amir's family.
2) Baba, Amir's father, who is loyal to Afghanistan and his countrymen.
3) Amir, the protagonist, who learns the value of loyalty by deciding to rescue Sohrab, Hassan's son, from Taliban-controlled Kabul back in Afghanistan.
